Still haven't found what I was looking for
2004-06-03

The sky was really black and most of us had doubts about going out. The race commitee chair did too, but he said there looked to be a window where we could get a race in. I kept saying we probably wouldn't go, all the while setting the boat up so we could.

By the time it came to leave the dock, there was just no real reason not to head out so we did with a major storm just to the north and another off to the south.

On the way out to the course, we brushed the edge of storm #1 and it just whipped up instant waves in 30+ know gusts. Ugly... Once it went through, there was, well, nothing. We put the main up and floated. The RC started the sequence, but we weren't going any where so they abandoned.

We sat there for about a half an hour waiting for wind and while we waited, the black clouds began to aim at us. A boat next to us took down his main and looked to be headed in. We soon followed. Two minutes later, the RC pulled the plug. That two minutes was the difference between us getting in completely dry and everybody else getting soaked. Timing is everything in life.

So we didn't get a race in, I wasn't too disappointed and we stayed dry. Sometimes life is so simple no?

Happy Thursday!!!
