Hares and the tortoise Part II

I was sunny and warm and the sky was a perfect blue. There were 5000 runners and another several thousand spectators, sitting on the statehouse lawn listening to Steve Smlth and the N@keds. There were a hundred outhouses, more juice and water than I've ever seen in one spot.

It took us over a minute just to get to the starting line. By the time we hit mile one the Kenyans were already done. 14 minutes to go 3.1 miles. The math boggles my mind.

The new route through the city was pretty though and lots of it was in the shade or along the rivers. There were bands on almost every street corner and some of them were pretty good. Lots of watering stations this year too.

Wearing a black shirt was a big mistake. Note taken for next year. We were slow, very very slow, but we had fun. Next year maybe I'll be in better shape. Maybe not.
