Yesterday was just not a good day. Of course because it was race day the forecast was for rain and no wind. Great. We are still in the monsoon season here in the east and the forecast shows rain all the way through Tuesday of next week. I think I am growing moldy. Blah

The news on Big Tony is not good. They took four biopsys liver, pancreas, stomach and throat. All four came back positive. I'm not a doctor, but that can't be good news. Steve bailed on last nights race to spend the night there having a few last beers before he goes in for extensive chemo. I feel so bad for him. If any of you have connections with the big guy upstairs, any help would be appreciated.

The race didn't go much better. It rained on and off most of the night with fog. We had a really good start, stuffed the boat we hate and made him tack away or be over the line early. He went down the line for maybe half a minute on port tack (no rights) and promptly slammed into and punched a hole in another boat in the class. It was really loud and did LOTS of damage. The both were forced to retire and may be out of commission for quite a while.

We banged the start well and sailed a really good race. If we would have gone around once around, it would have been fine, but no, stupid race committee ignores the dying breeze and sends us around again.

The last down wind leg was painful. We had a big lead, but the breeze filled in from the back and we ended up second. Not good. We got the sails down and began the half hour motor home and the engine began to lose power periodicly. It was dark, wet and no wind and now the engine is screwing up. Wonderful.

We made it in, listened to the damage reports from the crashed boats and hung around. I wasn't really in th emood for food so I just had a few glasses of grapes. We stayed way too late. We finally hit the road, had a bit to eat, watched the Tonight show for a while. I had another restless night sleeping. Ahhh, life in the fast lane huh?
