Life in the slow lane (surely makes you lose your mind)
2002-12-05

Well more snow is on the way, maybe as much as 8 inches. It seems good old mother nature is making up for the relatively snowless last few years. It could also be to spite me since our usual trip to the mountains up north has been cancelled this year due to conflicts in time and cash with the cruise to the islands on the big disease infected boat thing.

Actually, the ship we are taking hasn't been in the news so I suppose that is a good thing. Warm will be good.

I had to pick up M.E. at her new office last night so we could dash out for a bite and the basketball game. Her building is impressivee, but you'd think that a huge place like that would have a place to drop off mail.... It doesn't. They even have to take the business mail home. Thats makes no sense does it?

I was kind of dashing around last night because the ride home took an hour and a half. The Mass DOT likes to do their lane closing type work during rush hour. It gives all the drivers a chace to see what they are doing up close and slow....VERY slow.

Closing a lane on 95 during rush hour is sort of like trying to stop the tide from coming in. Stuff just keeps piling up and piling up until it busts out someplace. Road rage was invented in places like that.

The trip from M.E.s office to the Civic Center was just as bad. A tow truck was on the side of the road downtown. Of course everybody has to look to see why it is there. This slows things down to a crawl. Oh and the big blue termite along side the highway was all decorated in Christmas lights and a big flashing red nose. That added to the festivity.

We ate in the bistro abobe the arena and the food was OK if a bit over cooked. Our waitress must be on the union staff because the service was slower than the traffic. Oh and yes, we really do need utensils and napkins, honest...

At least we won. Our team was down 10 at the half and playing like crap, but managed to turn it on in the second half and win by 11. The big game with cross state rival URI is Saturday. That will be a hoot.

I plan on bailing early today to miss the snow, lane closure, boredom. The times they aren't a changin.
