Red skys at night (decks too)
2002-11-06

Received today via email from Hasbro, the toy company:

Dear "CaptainRon",

Thank you for applying for the position of Reliability Engineer. After careful consideration of your experience and professional background, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for this position.

Another one bites the dust. I still haven't heard when my appointment with the VP of the other company is. They said they wanted to do it by the end of the week. This leaves tomorrow and Friday.

On a positive note, I just realized I get Monday out of work, Vetrans Day. A perfect time to start stripping the boat. Sigh... The season is winding down. We have the hangover race on Sunday and the Cheap Red Wine Tasting Contest the following week and that's pretty much it.

What is the CRWTC you ask? Well it is something we hold every year. It is held under sail and anybody interested can compete. The rules are: It has to be red. It has to be store bought and unopened. It has to be at least a gallon container. If you get one with a cork you get extra points. You need the receipt and the kicker, it has to be under $10.

Sometimes the stuff is pretty drinkable. Other times well, you just don't want to know. On years with lots of breeze, the decks are so red, it looks like OJ Simpson has been a guest. One year we had to pull behind Warwick light to drop our only sail, the #3 (Smallest jib). A few years all the judges, I.E. contestants have forgotten to vote. Those were mostly the good ones.

Don't you wish you were us? You could be. Don't forget to keep the receipt :-)
